My university just switched to Canvas from Blackboard. Just about to click on the link for the first time to set my courses up. Send me luck! I think I'm going to need it.
OK setting up the first course was OK because I'm not planning to use any of the features in Canvas, so it was mostly finding the buttons to turn off the defaults. I think I got them all. Tomorrow's task is the course where I actually need to use some features. 😬

In modes derived from special-mode (e.g., help or info buffers), q is bound to quit-window, which will bury the buffer but not kill it. Most of the time I DO want it to kill the buffer too, though, which can be achieved with C-u q.
Emacs 31.1 made this a lot easier by adding a variable called quit-window-kill-buffer:

@frank Eh, daar staat toch letterlijk dat hij zelf vind dat het internet op 29 oktober is geboren toen het eerste bericht tussen 2 computers werd verstuurd en dat hij het niet eens is met 2 september toen de eerste computer met de eerste switch werd verbonden.

@NicksWorld Being able to create perminant conference channels, markdown support in posts and so on, I can't remember off the top of my head but the free thing is more than good enough for most people.

@baldur I must admit, I've come around on this whole thing. I used to sour on the idea of adding too much "OS" nitty-gritty to the web. Great for native app wrappers to provide that to web apps, but do I really need USB device access in a browser?!
At this point, I want all the APIs all the time. 😆 Native app stores have become a wasteland of grift. I've stripped my phone down to the bare minimum.

@buchfee2 Me too (but I was nine years old)! The idea of this one is to give you a stretchy beginning to a sock or a cuff. I have only knitted one pair of socks and I hated every minute of it, so I'm going to do another pair so I get over myself.

A homeowner in Denmark decided to tackle his back garden to build a terrace and got a shock. He found over 40 pounds in weight of Viking silver- comprising of 700 single objects. The objects included coins, a Thor's hammer, and silver bars, one of which was engraved with runes. Two of the coins dated to the Anglos-Saxons minted during the reign of King Edward the Elder.
